ElectronicDojo/VS Fighting III Trailer!

For those who missed out on this amazing gaming event, I present to you the ElectronicDojo trailer. This was first shown during the finals of the second day, comprising of hype moments throughout many of ElectronicDojo's awesome events in the past year, including VS Fighting II.

There was so much great footage to choose from that I had a hard time deciding what to put in during post-production, I am also quite pleased with how each of the game intros turned out.

The Great Speech

Overall, I feel some of the transitions turned out better than I anticipated. Creating a 3D world using 2D elements seems like a very interesting idea and pleased with those scenes, I also intend to use this style in the future and develop it. However, I do feel I spent too much time trying to perfect the atmospheric scenes and wasted a lot time because of it. As a result, I had to cut down the animation drastically to meet the deadline, which also meant some scenes I planned didn't make the cut. Towards the end, the timing for some of the transitions became a little sloppy due to the messy project file and became extremely difficult to fix.

D&AD 4seven

The Channel4 brief in the D&AD student award is a great opportunity for me to create some work with restrictions, and a chance for me to get my work out there. Channel4 wants an ident for their new channel 4seven, which is a catch up service for shows from the last 7 days amongst social media website and online bloggers. I brained storm some ideas and developed them. I plan on integrating social media elements from facebook into the ident, utilising interface elements as part of the animation. While also emphasising the catch up service by adding a VHS rewind effect. To compliment the VHS feel, I added some fuzzy filters to reflect channels gritty image.

Implementing C4D assests in After Effects

I went on to model a TV in C4D with the intentions of porting the model into After Effects, and utilising the alpha matte layer to place a render of the sci ball on the TV screen. Once everything was set in After Effects, I animated the camera and placed lights to compliment the glossy materials on the TV. In addition, I played around with some particles to produce snow and animated some text with a similar material.

Fierce TV Animation + Feedback

UPDATE: After taking the feedback into consideration, I have fine tuned the ident and made some minor changes.

As I have direct access to the local fighting game community, I wanted to get their opinions of the brand identity and if it appeals to them. I also asked for more feedback from my peers who gave advice in the design aspect of the animation. I have gathered the feedback will make improvements to the current version.

Micro Project: RedDog TV

As I was struggling to communicate my brand identity to the appropriate target audience, I picked this opportunity to create another ident for an up and coming music/promotional web channel. This really helped me rethink the way I approach communicating a message and it definitely helped develop my own web channel.
